Heavy Rains a Game Changer
December 21, 2014 by Tony Viator
The second half of the season is underway!
The rain we had Friday brought some much needed water to the prairies of southeast Texas. We now have a lot of sheet water in the area and that has the birds scattered in newly floods flats. This has scattered the birds slowed hunting in our primary area but should also provide some good shooting during the coming weeks. Mixed bags of puddle ducks and divers continue to be the norm. Gadwalls have been our most common bird but we have been picking up pintails, mallards, teal, and shovelers on a regular basis. A few Canvasbacks and redheads have shown up in the marsh as well. A few geese have been showing up and hopefully numbers will increase. If your looking for a hunt give us a call!
