Duck Hunting Report
December 15, 2013 by Brad Beaulieu
Saturday kicked off the opening of the second part of the south zone duck season. Heavy dense fog had things a little fouled up Saturday morning. Most blinds managed near limits as the fog moved in and out for most of the morning at times cutting visibilty down to under 100 yards. Bags consisted of Pintail, Canvasback, Teal, Gadwall, and Mottle ducks.
Sunday morning broke cold and clear. Strong gusty north wind and temps around the mid 30's certainly made us all feel like true duck hunters! Most hunters enjoyed moderate success as the birds seem to seek sheltered waters. One group of young hunters successfully bagged a beautiful Mallard drake and a banded Mottle duck. Certainly a remarkable moment for these up and coming waterfowlers. Pintails, Gadwall, and Teal rounded out everyone's straps.
